Why preparation matters

A durable finish depends on what happens before the paint

On outdoor wrought iron, paint won’t hold if rust and flaking layers aren’t removed first. We prepare the metal before any coat is applied.

The system we apply, preparation, anti-corrosion primer and finish, targets metal protection as much as appearance.

What we handle

Common situations

Flaking paint

Old coats that bubble or peel away.

Surface rust

Rust spots to treat before painting.

Dull finish

Tired metal that has lost its uniform look.

Our method

How we work

  1. 01

    Metal preparation

Sanding, removal of flaking layers and surface cleaning.

  2. 02

    Anti-corrosion primer

A primer that protects the metal and improves adhesion.

  3. 03

    Finish coat

An exterior-grade finish for an even result.

  4. 04

    Final check

    Surface check and site clean-up.

Our finish system

Four layers, in the right order

Paint that lasts is not a coat of paint: it is a system. Each layer has a job, and none of them works if the one below was skipped.

  1. Prepared metalSanding and removal of flaking layers down to a sound surface. Dusting and degreasing before any application.
  2. Rust treatmentRemaining corrosion is treated and neutralised. We never paint over rust: it would keep spreading under the finish.
  3. Anti-corrosion primerA primer designed for exterior metal that blocks moisture and gives the finish a surface to bond to.
  4. Exterior finishA finish coat suited to exposed metal, for a uniform look and lasting protection.

The exact choice of products depends on the condition of the metal and the exposure of the structure. It is stated in your quote.

FAQ

Wrought iron painting: your questions

All frequently asked questions

Do you remove all the old paint?

We remove flaking or non-adhering layers and prepare the surfaces. The extent depends on the metal’s condition, which we assess beforehand.

Can you paint over rust?

No. Rust is treated before priming, otherwise the paint will not last.

Do you work outdoors year-round?

Exterior painting depends on conditions. We discuss this during your project assessment.
