Your wrought iron questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often, grouped by topic.

Quotes and projects

What is the minimum project value?

The usual minimum project value is CAD 2,500, depending on surface condition, dimensions, site access and the work required.

Can I get a first assessment from photos?

Yes. Send a few photos of the structure and its condition; that is often the starting point. Jordan, our estimator, reviews them, calls you back to clarify the condition of the metal and prepares a written quote before any work.

Are you insured?

Yes. Groupe Fer Forgé operates with CAD 5,000,000 in liability insurance.

Do you work outdoors all year?

Exterior painting depends on conditions. We discuss it when assessing your project.

Do you remove all the old paint?

We remove flaking or non-adhering layers and prepare the surfaces. The extent depends on the metal’s condition, which we assess beforehand.

Can you paint over rust?

No. Rust is treated before priming, otherwise the paint will not last.

Restoration & rust

Should I restore or replace?

It depends on the structure’s condition. If the metal is still sound, restoration is often worthwhile. We assess each case honestly.

Can rust come back?

Careful treatment and finishing slow corrosion. No result is permanent, but the goal is to extend service life.

Can you work on a single section?

Yes, depending on needs. We discuss it after seeing the structure’s condition.

How do we start?

Send photos or request a quote. We’ll get back to you with the recommended steps.

Balconies & guardrails

My guardrail moves, can it be fixed?

Often yes. We check the anchors and redo the fixings to restore stability.

Do I need a full replacement if there is rust?

Not necessarily. If the structure is sound, treatment and repair are often enough.

Do you work on buildings with several balconies?

Yes, see our condominium page for phased projects.

How do we start?
